Workers Beware: Forced Arbitration Can Happen To You
According to Procter & Gamble’s 2014 U.S. Separation Program, employees voluntarily leaving the company were asked to sign a Separation Agreement and Release that, among other things, waived their right to pursue any claims under the Age Discrimination in Employment Act and other state and federal anti-discrimination laws. It also required that employees, as a condition of receiving severance pay, sign away their right to go to court by agreeing to privately arbitrate any and all future disputes.
